Summary:

KaBOOM! has launched grant programs and challenges to find and fund the best Play Everywhere ideas in communities across the country. KaBOOM! created the innovative idea of "Play Everywhere" bringing play to unexpected but everyday spaces, making it easy and available for kids and families to play.

The Grants Program Manager is responsible for the overall management of simultaneous grant programs as well as each individual Play Everywhere grant. This role is the primary point of contact for community-based organizations seeking to implement Play Everywhere projects. The Grants Manager builds and maintains subject matter expertise on Play Everywhere principals, assists in developing new grant programs, and continuously adds to our body of knowledge through interactions with communities, their projects, experiences and outcomes. The Grants Manager will also support the BIY program on standard reviews and will contribute to the standardization across BIY and Play Everywhere Grants programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead organizations and individuals from diverse backgrounds through the concept, planning and implementation of Play Everywhere projects against established timeframes and goals while maintaining an outstanding reputation of top-notch customer service
  • Refine grant criteria, application and screening processes for all grant programs to effectively identify grantees who will be successful in completing their projects and are aligned with the goals and strategy of KaBOOM!
  • Collaborate with internal KaBOOM! teams to market grant opportunities to relevant stakeholders, ensure grants are competitive and demand continues to grow, and develop and maintain effective and efficient tools to manage grantees
  • Maintain an evaluation system that ensures grant programs are achieving high quality results as it relates to the strategy and goals of KaBOOM! and funder requirements
  • Represent KaBOOM! at appropriate events, to include some conferences
  • Maintain a solid understanding of KaBOOM! mission, strategies, culture, values, history, programs and initiatives, and stay abreast of trends in playground safety and design
  • Actively contribute to our inclusive work environment by valuing other people regardless of differences and takes an active role in promoting practices that support diversity, inclusion, and cultural competence
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of grants experience, preferably related to the playground, park, city planning, or recreation industry
  • Possess an excellent customer service orientation and the skills necessary to prioritize, multi-task and thrive in a culture of rapid change (learn quickly from multiple sources; possess well-developed analytical, planning, organization, and problem solving skills)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Be committed to accomplish objectives through the skills of persuasion, influence and negotiation
  • Be an effective team player who can argue like they're always right and listen like they're always wrong
  • Possess a high level of self-confidence and be willing to challenge conventional wisdom and the status-quo
  • Possess the orientation and ability necessary to collaborate and work effectively as a member of a diverse, high-performing, and inclusive team
  • Model the behaviors that demonstrate commitment to KaBOOM! vision, mission, culture and values
