TITLE: Play Products Intern

DEPARTMENT: Play Products

DESIRED START DATE: May 2018

APPROXIMATE HOURS PER WEEK: 30-40

LOCATION: Washington, DC

STIPEND: $500 total

 

DESCRIPTION:

KaBOOM! is looking for a college student, recent college graduate or graduate student to join our dynamic Play Products team. The Play Products team is responsible for marketing and promotion of current play products distributed by KaBOOM! (Rigamajig and Imagination Playground). The Play Products team oversees play product grant implementation and collaborates with the development team to seek new funding opportunities for grant programs.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research
    • Identify prospective foundations and funders for Creative Play Grant programs.
    • Search for External Grant opportunities for play products
    • Compile a list of potential awards/contests/other opportunities for Creative Play funding
  • Writing and Communications
    • Create a report of findings and provide recommendations to Play Products team on top targets for funding (Foundations or funding sources that most closely align with Creative Play grant programs and/or appear to be attainable sources for creative play funding).
    • Generate resource guide for External Grant applications

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A matriculating college student who has earned enough credits for a sophomore status, or a student who has graduated from college within the preceding six months
  • Study in Non-profit Management, Social change disciplines, Communications or Marketing is strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in Washington, D.C. KaBOOM! office
  • Ability to work between 30-40 hours per week
  • Ability to work a minimum of 8 weeks May through August 2018
  • Ability to secure their own lodging/housing
  • Adhere to all KaBOOM! employment policies

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times; including working in a cooperative manner within a team oriented environment
