TITLE: City Partnerships Intern

DEPARTMENT: City Partnerships

DESIRED START DATE: May 30, 2018

APPROXIMATE HOURS PER WEEK:  25 - 35

LOCATION: Washington, DC

STIPEND: $500 total

DESCRIPTION:

KaBOOM! is looking for a college student, recent college graduate or graduate student to join our dynamic City Partnerships team. The City Partnerships team is responsible for building relationships with city officials and agencies to develop public-private partnerships and implement city engagement plans in priority cities, as well as developing and improving resources for cities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research city priorities and city officials to support relationship building for development of public-private partnerships
  • Prepare summary documents and meeting briefs, record notes and complete follow-up tasks to advance the team's work
  • Participate during internal and external meetings to further strategy development and engagement of cities in initiatives to promote play
  • Utilize internal database (Salesforce) to log meetings, pull reports and research organizational history within various cities

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A matriculating college student who has earned enough credits for a sophomore status, or a student who has graduated from college within the preceding six months
  • Area of academic study that relates to the intern opening (Non-profit Management, Political Science, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Communications, U.S. Government, Public Policy, etc.) strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in Washington, DC KaBOOM! office
  • Ability to work between 25-35 hours per week.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 8 weeks May through August 2018
  • Ability to secure their own lodging/housing
  • Adhere to all KaBOOM! employment policies

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills with an optimistic attitude toward problem solving
  • Ability to effectively manage responsibilities, balance priorities and meet deadline.
  • Interest in learning more about city-level government and public-private partnerships
  • Willingness to engage in productive and challenging work
  • Open and receptive to feedback and learning opportunities
  • Interns will conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times, including working in a cooperative manner within a team oriented environment
