Position Name:  Coordinator, External Affairs

Department:  External Affairs

Reports To:  Vice President, Communications and Marketing

Summary of Position:

The Coordinator is responsible for serving as the point person for the External Affairs Department, providing general support to the Vice President and the team, assisting with marketing and communications work, and working on other projects as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports External Affairs team in all KaBOOM! related marketing and communications efforts including, but not limited to, media outreach, monitoring and reporting, managing content for KaBOOM! social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and kaboom.org, brand management and design projects
  • Serves as a central point of contact for KaBOOM! External Affairs team
  • Creates and monitors the External Affairs departmental budget with the support of department directors; tracking all department expenditures to ensure costs stay within annual budget.
  • Processes expense reimbursements and invoices in a timely manner, manages External Affairs credit card
  • Provides direct administrative support to the Vice President and Directors
  • Supports the quality execution and on-time delivery of projects that require the coordination of multiple teams within the External Affairs team
  • Leads KaBOOM! office tours

  • Bachelor's degree required with at least 1-2 years of relevant experience; ideally in a non-profit or association
  • Must possess a broad background and interest in communications or marketing
  • Must possess excellent computer skills and be adept at using MS Office suite; knowledge of design and publishing programs a plus
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to take initiative and problem solve.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are a must
  • Excellent time management skills; managing responsibilities to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and must be able to communicate with the general public as required
  • Must be a team player, self-motivated, strong multi-tasker and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidate will ideally have a strong interest in issues surrounding how communities are organized to positively affect the quality of kid's lives
