Position Summary:
Reporting to and working closely with the Vice President of Philanthropy, the Director of Foundation Partnerships will serve as a leader and relationship manager helping to develop and execute a fundraising plan that incorporates philanthropic partnerships primarily with national foundations. The Director of Foundation Partnerships manages the Foundation Partnerships Coordinator and partners closely with other KaBOOM! directors to ensure organizational goals are met. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a talented individual to help scale the impact of a leading, well-respected non-profit.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Thoroughly understand KaBOOM!, its vision, mission, goals, value proposition of its programs and how its multiple constituencies and sources of funding can be integrated to generate revenue; develop compelling messaging around that vision targeted at diverse stakeholder groups;
• Partner with the VP of Philanthropy and development team to create annual and multi-year strategic fundraising plan to support the KaBOOM! comprehensive strategic plan;
• Expand the KaBOOM! donor base of foundations by developing comprehensive and effective prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship processes, and solidifying relationships with foundations to seek and secure multi-year six- and seven-figure grants;
• Develop, implement and participate in all aspects of the grant seeking process, including researching, prospecting, cultivation, proposal preparation and submission, monitoring, follow-up, and outcomes-based reporting;
• Develop, cultivate and manage a portfolio of foundation donors and prospects with potential to make six- and seven-figure grant commitments;
• Develop philanthropic partnerships and represent the organization in the philanthropic community;
• Supervise and mentor a team;
• Collaborate with department staff to ensure that annual fundraising goals are met;
• Actively cultivate an inclusive work environment that contributes to the achievement of the organization's diversity and inclusion goals and cultural competences; including but not limited to the areas of recruitment, retention, and training and development;
• Travel is required; and,
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience;
• Seven to ten years of proven success building and maintaining relationships with foundations;
• Proven ability to successfully secure six- and- seven-figure grant commitments;
• Superior oral, written and listening skills;
• Previous supervisory experience desired;
• Experience relating to and interacting with high level foundation decision-makers;
• Established progression of increased responsibility in fundraising with demonstrated success in prospecting, cultivating, asking and closing, for various donor constituents on a national level, especially in the realm of private foundations;
• Proven ability to think strategically, prepare and deliver compelling and comprehensive proposals to prospective donors;
• Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate as a member of a diverse and inclusive workforce;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Ability to adapt and embrace the seriously playful KaBOOM! culture, exhibiting enthusiasm and high-energy within a fast-paced organization;
• Highly organized and detail oriented with the demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with exceptional quality within required timelines;
• Demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence; and
• Passion for the mission and commitment to improving the lives of children.
